I was finally able to get a picture of my finished Captain America quilt flimsy (quilt top for you non-quilters). My boys were kind enough to let me borrow their handsome arms to hold it up for me...at least, as well as they could for a larger quilt top. They are the best!

I think Mr. Goofin' Off and I will be happy to get this one on our bed soon. Our current quilts are really beginning to fall apart. Why is it that we quilters always make quilts for everyone else first?
Mr. Chef Freddie's Favorites quilt blocks are coming along. I've begun assembling the first set of blocks.

I was able to sneak in about 400 stitches of Mickey and Pirate Friends cross stitch since my last update, so below is the latest.

Reminder of What Finished Stitched Piece Will Look Like |
How about this kind of buckle? This kind of buckle was not mentioned on the dictionary.com website I checked out about the meaning of buckle. But it's been on my mind since we had this back in March...actually, I think over the course of the week we had three of these in March.
Warm Wild Berry Buckle with Pepper Berry Sorbet |
We had these at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival back in March. It was our absolute favorite of all the kiosks. Mmm....
It came back to my memory as we were booking a whale watching tour for this weekend. Did I mention we're going on a whale watching tour with my family? We are sooo excited. Anyway, when booking the tour the website said we could pre-order their famous blueberry buckle. Now upon hearing the word "buckle" my mind went directly back to that baby up above. Mmm...
Mr. Goofin' Off, of course, has ordered it for us, so it should be waiting for us when we board the boat in the morning. Will it compare to what we had in March? I am skeptical, but I will keep my mind open. I'll let you know when we get back.
I know what I'm doing this weekend. What are you buckling down and doing for the weekend? Have a great one my friends...and I do think of you as friends whether or not I have met you in person.

What a gorgeous quilt! And I love the look of that blueberry buckle. Hope you have a great time whale watching and I hope the buckle lives up to the Epcot version :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol! I'm looking forward to the whale watching just a bit more than the buckle. They've reported seeing Orcas and Humpbacks this week. Fingers crossed we'll get to see both. Have a great weekend! --Andrea
DeleteThat buckle looks fantastic. Have a great time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by! I am sure we'll have a great time. Have a great weekend! --Andrea
DeleteEnjoy the blueberry buckle! Country Threads named a quilt after that once, when they all were on a diet and that name has stuck with me!?! I'll be working at the quilt shop for the state shop hop, and quilting at home. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by, Nancy! It must be interesting working on the other end of things of a shop hop. Have a great weekend! --Andrea
DeleteI've never heard of that kind of buckle, blueberry or wild berry either, a kind of dessert? As long as my cutting mats don't buckle I will be happy. My cut'n'press has though, I haven't a clue how but it is rather old, now I can't use it, sad :-(
ReplyDeleteKate, Sorry about your cut'n'press buckling. Yes, this particular kind of buckle is apparently a type of dessert. I've never heard it called that until recently. Thanks for dropping by! --Andrea
DeleteCongratulations on finishing that quilt top, it will have pride of place on your bed soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to TGIFF too.
Thanks for dropping by! Yes, we will enjoy having a new quilt on the bed. It has been way too long. Have a great weekend! --Andrea
DeleteThe quilt top is beautiful and nice progress on Mickey.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Thank you, Linda! Thanks for dropping by. Have a great weekend! --Andrea
DeleteHOw exciting to go on a whale-watching tour! I would love that. The Captain America quilt is fun! Great quilting potential there, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by! Yes, we just got back from the whale watching. I'll leave it to my next post to say whether or not we saw any whales. I am looking forward to a complete quilt finish for the bed soon. Have a great weekend! --Andrea
DeleteOh what lovely helpful elves you have there Andrea. I love the colours in the quilt. I have yet to complete my first quilt, I'm still a beginner. But I do love how much quicker it is than stitching. Mickey is coming along nicely too. Enjoy whale watching, they are such beautiful creatures.
ReplyDeletexo Alicia
Thank you for dropping by, Alicia. Yes, my helpful elves are quite handsome, too. Quilting is definitely more quick than stitching, although I somehow still seem to take much longer than so many others putting mine together. But I do find it relaxing. Have a great weekend! --Andrea
DeleteI have had more than one person ask me what a flimsy is. LOL! I could use your two quilt holders today to hold a big quilt up for a picture. Hard to do with just one to hold it up.
ReplyDeleteYes, we quilters do have our own language at times. LOL. I love my quilt holders very much. However, I usually only have one around the house, so when they're both here I've got to be quick about snapping that picture. Have a great weekend! --Andrea
DeleteThis is just amazing!! I love the Captain America Quilt ... Hopefully this will inspire my girls as we study and learn about quilts this coming school year!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Beckie! It was a fun quilt to work on. Hopefully you and your girls have fun learning about quilts. Have a great day! --Andrea
DeleteApparently Buckle is a type of upsidedown cake where the fruit sinks into the middle of it. We used to have apple or pineapple upsidedown pudding but I've never heard of buckle before today. Looks like it would be nice with some custard!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks great, you do need tall people to display a quilt properly!
This weekend I am stitching while my husband works 16+ hour days in the rain building and dismantling stages.
Thanks for dropping by, Jo! Yes, it does take tall people to display a quilt properly, and I am just a mere 5'1" so it's definitely not me. Hope you've been getting a lot of stitching in this weekend. Have a great day! --Andrea
DeleteWOW, the Captain America quilt looks absolutely beautiful! You are off to a great start on the new quilt too and I just love the Pirates piece. Hope you are enjoying the whales! Looking forward to seeing some pictures!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment on Captain America. It feels good to have him finished. I am having a lot of fun with the new quilt. Sometimes it seems to take forever to make any progress, but I'm giving myself a little break due to the sheer number of pieces in each block. The whale watching was a lot of fun. I'll be talking about it in my next blog post. Have a great day! --Andrea
DeleteI really like the corners of the blocks on the first quilt in this post. I like the secondary pattern they create. With smaller quilt blocks I wonder if they would look like alternate blocks....
ReplyDeleteNancy, I thought the same thing. I may try to downsize the blocks at some point on a future quilt and see how it turns out. Thanks for dropping by! --Andrea
DeleteCaptain America looks great. Well done... xox
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cheryll. And thank you for dropping by. Have a great day! --Andrea
DeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI've popped over from The Copper Fox to visit you.
That quilt is just beautiful! The second one is great too.
Love your Disney project, it will be very striking when it's finished. That pudding makes my stomach rumble! Wishing you a good week.
Thank you for popping over! Please feel free to pop over any time. I love to make new friends. Have a great day! --Andrea
DeleteYour quilt looks amazing! The Mickey stitching looks wonderful too....that will be an amazing piece once it's done. Hope you enjoy the whale watching....I've been once and it was incredible.
ReplyDeleteRhona, Thanks for dropping by. We had a fantastic time whale watching. It was nice to share the experience with family, too. Have a great day! --Andrea

Thank you for dropping by! Andrea
DeleteI love your Captain America Quilt. Good progress on your cross stitch also.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good whale watch.
I'm a little behind in my blog reading as you can probably tell.
Thank you for your comments, Cindy. We had a great time whale watching. Like you, I get behind on my blog reading and then binge when I'm either too tired to work or work around the house or I just need a good pick-me-up. Thanks for dropping by! Andrea
