What is a fairy tale?
"A story in which improbable events lead to a happy ending."
Thanks to Joan at MooseStash Quilting for organizing this Fairy Tale Blog Hop. I have been inspired by seeing all my quilting friends' fairy tale projects.
As a special thank you for those who visit, I am offering a free downloadable and printable fairy tales themed quilt planner and journal in PDF format. It will be available for free all summer long...if you know where to find it. You can find the link to it here hosted on my other blog about adding Disney magic to everyday life. This quilt planner and journal was created specially for this blog hop!
Me, Disney and Fairy Tales
One thing you need to know about me is that I am a huge Disney fan! If you have followed me for very long, this is not a surprise.
I am a huge Disney fan because I realize that sometimes we have to go through difficult times before we reach our happy ending. And Disney inspires me to keep moving forward through the tough times because the reward is coming. And once I've got that reward, more adventures come along to challenge me...leading to another magical ending.
Life seems to be one fairy tale after another after another after another. And I keep moving forward so I can see what's waiting for me at the end of each chapter. Life is not perfect...and that's okay because there are always good things to balance the difficult.
Quilting Fairy Tales
I realize that many of my quilting and other projects also mirror the definition of a fairy tale. So many times am I working on a project and something doesn't go quite right. I cut some fabric incorrectly and need to rethink the design. Or maybe the colors I chose don't quite work together, so I need to make some substitutions. But once the process is finished, the final project is just what was needed for someone at just the right time.
I've pulled together some pictures of my Disney projects for the Fairy Tale Blog Hop.

As I mentioned before, I truly think that this journey of life is like a series of fairy tales. For each chapter of difficulties and challenge, we often get rewarded by our next happy ending. Then we are hit again with more challenges and adventures...and then hopefully another happy ending (no matter how brief it may be). I live for those happy times and fairy tales.
Each quilt finish, to me, is like a mini fairy tale ending. I enjoy seeing how fabrics and shapes have come together to create something that will give comfort to someone...and hopefully make them smile each time they use it.
May life be a never-ending fairy tale to all my quilting and stitching friends! Thanks for joining me!
Have a magical day!

ReplyDeleteRebecca, I purchased the pattern through Etsy through the seller: https://www.etsy.com/shop/StitchesLoversShop. It really is an adorable pattern! Have a magical day! -Andrea
DeleteYour Disney inspired quilts and cross stitch pieces are wonderful. I live with a Mega Disney Fan. So Mega we retired to Florida from the north east to be close to the parks. On a good traffic day we can be there in just over an hour.
ReplyDeleteTink's Mom, You are living our dream life. If our son didn't live here in Seattle, we'd probably move to the area. We are Disney World Annual Passholders. We held on to them even during the pandemic just so we could be flexible in travel. Thanks for popping by and leaving a comment! Have a magical day! -Andrea
DeleteYour projects are all wonderful! I especially like the Toy Story-themed quilt.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really enjoyed making the Toy Story quilt. It was fun to be working on this as a surprise while helping the lucky couple plan their Toy Story-themed wedding. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Have a magical day! -Andrea
DeleteI sure enjoyed reading your post. You really had a lot of eye candy. Like your own personal fairy tale quilt show! That's cute about Mr. Goofin Off wanting Captain America for a bed quilt.
ReplyDeletePamela, Thank you! I do enjoy my Disney eye candy...although we actually try to keep things on the subtle side in our Disney decor. Thanks for popping in and leaving a comment. Have a magical day! -Andrea
DeleteI have always loved Disney too. I grew up in S. California, so Disneyland was a place I would go to often with my friend. We would just pay the fee to get in without the tickets (back then you needed tickets for the rides) and just have fun. As people would leave the park they would ask if we were local and give us their unused tickets, so we could go on the rides they didn't use. Riding the trolley on Main Street was only a 10 cent ride then!
ReplyDeleteI even had my high school grad night at DL, which was a blast! Several high schools would rent out DL for the night and we had the entire park for us grads from all over the state. Such great memories.
We both grew up to work at Disneyland too. I only worked for a few months before the lay off season (they lay off newbies during slow periods and rehire back when the park gets busy again). I needed to work, so I found another job, but my friend kept going back to work at DL and eventually she became a manager of her dept. and only recently retired less than 2 years ago, having worked for DL for over 45 years!
So keep on loving Disney, because that is what keeps us all young at heart....and keeps the fabric companies busy making Disney fabric for us to buy. Love all your projects!
Daryl, Thanks so much for leaving this comment. I do enjoy hearing from people who enjoy Disney like we do. Working at Disney has always been a dream of mine. I'm having to settle as a Disney Travel Agent for now. We love Disneyland and can't wait to get back now that is open to out-of-state travelers. We're booked for September. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement! Have a magical day! -Andrea
DeleteGirl...you are in good company being a Disney fan. Your projects are so much fun. I am in awe with that Mickey and Pirate friends stitchery. That is absolutely incredible. Poster size??? Whew that a lot of stitching! One of these days Selina from Selina Quilts, you and I are going to have to meet at a Disney park! LOL!! Talk about a fun fairy tale. :-)
ReplyDeleteI would be soooo up for a Disney meet-up! Currently, scheduled for a 2-week trip to Disney World in October. We are much more leisurely about our trips. We just enjoy snacking, people watching and a few of our favorite rides. One of these days, we hope to be snowbirds there during the winter to escape these gray, drizzly Seattle winters. Thanks for popping in and leaving a message! So happy to meet fellow Disney fans. Have a magical day! -Andrea

DeleteI love all your projects, especially Tink! The counted cross stitch is beautiful. I used to do a lot of it, and recently bought some Aida and a few patterns to get back to it again! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteCross stitch really is my go-to for when I need to relieve stress. It has been a lifesaver through rough patches the past few years. I'm glad to have time again to be working on projects. I hope you enjoy cross stitching as you get back into it. Thanks for popping in and leaving me a comment. -Andrea
DeleteLove all of your fairy tale projects. Talk about inspiration, you are amazing. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I tend to do simple quilt projects, so I sometimes feel like I don't fit in with all the quilters who design and create such beautiful and detailed quilts. But it's not a contest, right? But I really have enjoyed the hop and seeing the variety of projects. Thanks for popping by and leaving a comment. Have a magical day! -Andrea

DeleteWonderful Disney projects. I am also a cross stitcher too. Haven't gotten the full coverage bug yet. :D
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy both quilting and cross stitching. I see progress more quickly on my quilting, which is what I need when focusing on a full coverage cross stitch. It's nice to rotate between the two. Thank you for popping in and leaving a comment. It's appreciated! Have a magical day! -Andrea

DeleteSo sad that I'm not a quilter, they are all fantastic! I must say I like Woody the best, Toy Story is one of my favourites. I have stitched him and he is in my craft room since our youngest outgrew him - lucky me!
ReplyDeleteI love the stitching, Eeyore is so adorable.
The Toy Story Quilt was definitely one of my favorites...and one of the more memorable quilts I've put together over the years. How fun that you have him stitched and that he hangs out in your craft room. Thanks for popping in and leaving a message. Have a magical day! -Andrea
